Sometimes ignoring canon is just a form of self-care.

We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which TV storylines and seasons they hated SO much that they literally pretend they aren't canon. Here are some of their hot takes 🔥:

🚨 Warning: Spoilers ahead!!! 🚨

1. First, when Season 8 of That '70s Show ruined a ton of previous character development and relationships after Eric left.

Fox

Suggested by: ryland1203

"They just completely undid seven seasons of character development for NOTHING! And don't get me started on Randy."

tudorgirl21

2. When Nathan was kidnapped by the Russian mafia on One Tree Hill.

The CW

"It didn't make any sense to me. Like, why would you have Nathan be captured and not Dan?! Nathan didn't deserve to be tortured like that. I pretend that storyline doesn't exist at all."

debbieresnick

3. Also on One Tree Hill, when Haley left to go on tour with Chris in Season 2, and she and Nathan almost divorced over it.

The WB

"The storyline goes on forever and is so dull. I legitimately skip most of Season 2 because of this."

laraterryr

4. When Silver and Liam dated on 90210.

The CW

"It was like watching a brother and sister together — just awkward and uncomfortable. I have no idea why they had to go there."

pritchette

5. When, despite all the gaps in logic, Dan was revealed as Gossip Girl on Gossip Girl.

The CW

6. When Nadia and Guzmán had seasons of buildup, only to break up after a couple of episodes because they couldn't handle long distance on Elite.

Netflix

"I hated what they did to Nadia and Guzmán in Season 4. They had so much chemistry and were my favorite couple. I will never forgive the writers for it."

7. When Landry killed Tyra's attacker and covered it up on Friday Night Lights.

"There was absolutely no need for that entire plot whatsoever. It took an otherwise fun, interesting show to a dark place where no one wanted it to go."

8. When Clarke killed Bellamy over a sketchbook on The 100, and all of the characters' choices throughout the final season in general.

The CW

"Season 7 was a train wreck and so out of character for everyone, especially everything from Episode 12 onward. Clarke killed Bellamy to get the notebook to save Madi, but then she left the notebook behind, and Madi died anyway."

blizzardxchic

9. When Manny started dating his college professor on Modern Family.

ABC

"Manny was adorable and hilarious for the first few seasons of the show, but as his character aged, so did the 'I'm too mature for my age' bit. I found him way less likable after that."

hiitsnicetomeetyou

10. When Marissa died on The O.C. and the show continued for another season without her, resulting in a romance between Ryan and Taylor.

Warner Bros / Courtesy Everett Collection

"In my mind, Ryan and Taylor never happened."

asophiaaa93

11. When Scrubs was unexpectedly renewed for a ninth and final season, and the show took a completely different direction in a new setting.

ABC / Courtesy Everett Collection

"I thought the Season 8 finale was perfect, so I just pretend it's the real series finale."

12. When Tara was killed off on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The WB

"I will never ever forgive the writers for that one. There was no need for her character to die. Willow could have been turned evil another way."

cafenner17

13. When Rachel bailed on her Broadway performance to go audition for a bad TV show in LA on Glee.

Fox

"It was so unlike her. Her dream was to be on Broadway, and she finally did it, and then she just threw it away?!"

wizardingworldwerido

14. When it was revealed in the final few minutes of the How I Met Your Mother finale that Tracy (the mother) had died, and then Ted and Robin ended up together.

CBS

"The whole ending was so infuriating. We went through nine seasons building up to Ted's happily ever after, only for Tracy to die and then for Ted to get back together with Robin. It honestly ruined the whole series for me."

jaysharmony

15. When Miles chose to stay with Tristan instead of Lola, even though he admitted to falling in love with her on Degrassi: Next Class.

Netflix

"Miles and Tristan weren’t well suited at all, so it was disappointing to see him pining after Tristan when it didn’t really make sense. Lola's ending with Saad was OK, but I feel like Miles and Lola reuniting would have been stronger."

kierstenh4bad2d755

16. When Rachel and Joey got together while she was pregnant with Ross's baby on Friends.

NBC

17. When Pam dropped out of art school on The Office.

NBC

"They had us rooting for her to pursue her dreams, just to drop the storyline so she would keep working at Dunder Mifflin."

aliciam4fa618d95

18. When Logan was killed off right after he and Veronica got married on Season 4 of Veronica Mars.

Warner Bros. / Hulu

"The show ended with the movie."

panda_13

19. When Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ruined everyone's previous character development with a series of horrible, horrible decisions.

Netflix

"The Gilmore Girls revival is not canon to me. As far as I'm concerned, it ended in Season 7, and we don't know what happened after that."

samantham46531ff01

20. The final season of Supernatural in general, particularly when Castiel sacrificed himself to save Dean.

The CW

"I hated the finale so much that it affected my enjoyment of rewatching some of my favorite episodes. Maybe one of these days they can do a reboot where the brothers are sent back in time to prevent Castiel's stupid sacrifice."

savana221

21. When Michael "died" and then came back to life with amnesia on Jane the Virgin.

The CW

22. When Elena was put into a magical coma on The Vampire Diaries.

The CW

"Love or hate her character, it completely messed with the show and the majority of the last two seasons didn't feel right. Also, when the actress returned to reprise her role for the finale, the magical coma also magically had a loophole so everyone could have a nice little happy reunion. Um, OK?"

Th3FatPanth3r

23. When Legacies majorly derailed Hope's character by revolving all of Season 3 around her relationship with Landon.

The CW

"All of Season 3 of Legacies should not have existed. They made the whole storyline about the female lead being obsessed with her boyfriend and ruining all of her other relationships for him. I definitely like to pretend it doesn't exist."

bonillamalika

24. When Spencer and Caleb dated on Pretty Little Liars.

Freeform

25. Also on Pretty Little Liars, when Spencer was revealed to have a secret, evil British twin.

Freeform

"All of Season 7 was pointless and just awful. The rest of the show was good, but the last season was unnecessary. How were we supposed to guess that A.D. would end up being Spencer's secret British twin?"

chocolate829

26. When Sherlock began to make no sense after Season 2, especially in regards to Mary's character.

BBC

"They gave us B.S. answers for how Sherlock survived. They also tried so hard to make us like Mary when she was awful and literally tried to kill Sherlock. Then, they just went off the rails with the rest of the garbage. It's sad because the show was starting to get great with Season 2."

aeronadarcy

27. And finally, the hot mess that was the entire last season of Game of Thrones.

HBO

Reminder that I, Kelly Martinez, do not necessarily endorse all of these opinions!!!
