"What haunts you will find you."

A24 just released a trailer for their new horror film, Men, and it looks like it will be another one of their frightening masterpieces.

The film's synopsis reads: "A young woman goes on a solo vacation in the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband." However, the trailer tells us almost nothing about what the film is about, making the mystery all the more intriguing.

What we do see is the protagonist being stalked by mysterious figures while she's on her getaway, all to the sound of her echoing voice.

Given Garland's work in sci-fi and the trailer's religious imagery (for example: the church and the apple tree), we could see the main character face a supernatural or even demonic threat. The possibilities are endless.

The film will feature Jessie Buckley, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for her performance in The Lost Daughter, as the protagonist Harper.

Buckley will star alongside Rory Kinnear (Black MirrorThe James Bond franchise) and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), and given their past work, it looks like they will all give us more stellar performances in this next project.

Men comes fresh from the mind of writer/director Alex Garland, who is renowned for his work helming Ex Machina and Annihilation. He also famously wrote the screenplays for 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, and Dredd.

Garland previously worked with A24 when he directed Ex Machina, which won the studio their first-ever Oscar with its outstanding visual effects. Perhaps he'll get them another golden statue with this new horror film.

Just like Annihilation, Men could explore the protagonist's grief over her ex-husband's death by using these haunting figures to embody it.

We've seen A24 tackle mental health through horror many times before with movies like Hereditary, Midsommar, and The Lighthouse, so Men could be another successful and frightening voyage into the darkest depths of the human mind.

Also, the image of that sewer tunnel is just eerie.

And when that screaming person at the end of the tunnel showed up, I swear, I was getting some flashbacks from 28 Days Later.
