For a while, Lizzie was in talks to be rebooted; unfortunately, the project was stalled at Disney+ in 2020.

In a new interview, Hilary said a reboot was still possible: "I think there's always a possibility there. And even if she’s 40, I don’t think people care. It’s always going to be somewhat interesting to people to see where she ended up."

Though she doesn't "love" talking about it because "the internet seems to explode whenever Lizzie stuff is brought up."

If you'll recall, the reboot didn't happen due to a series of creative differences between the star and Disney+. "I think they’re really trying to figure out what kind of content they want living on Disney+," Hilary said on SiriusXM last year. "That doesn’t totally align with where I see Lizzie right now. I’m, like, very protective of her, and they’re very protective of her."

When the revival was scrapped, the mom of three wrote on Instagram: "I know efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work but, sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen."

"I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best, and the stars just didn’t align."

For now, we'll have to make do with the plot from the scrapped Lizzie revival pilot, which Hilary recently described to Cosmopolitan: "My character was moving back home with her parents because she caught her soon-to-be fiancé cheating on her, and she was falling flat on her face at the moment and being like, ‘I need to pivot because everything that I thought was wasn’t, and I’m turning 30. What the fuck?'"
