2002 couldn't have possibly been that long ago, could it?

I don't know about you, but I'm still having a hard time adjusting to the fact that 2002 was 20 years ago.

And when you think about it, it was really the year life started hitting different. I mean, we learned what a post-9/11 world looked like.

War and financial issues were s t r e s s i n g people out (sound familiar?), so we kind of needed some escape.

No matter how old you were or what you were into, the entertainment industry was trying to take your mind off the chaos. And as a result, we got some of these bangers.

1. In a matter of minutes, you got fun facts and quick teasers of upcoming Disney movies on Mike’s Super Short Show (you know you sang that in your head), which debuted on January 1, 2002.

2. The year in movies also started off strong with the January 2 release of The Royal Tenenbaums, a star-studded Wes Anderson film following a dysfunctional family trying to make amends in what they think is their estranged patriarch's final days.

3. The Good Girl came out on January 12 and gave us a ~deep~ moody rom-dram starring Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal.

4. Black Hawk Down gave the war-action fans everything they wanted. It was released on January 18, 2002.

5. Snow Dogs was a family-friendly alternative for the January 18 moviegoers, starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and a bunch of super-cute pups.

6. Cyberchase brought kids into the internet age and gave us Christopher Lloyd as a villainous hacker. It debuted January 21.

7. I hope I don't sound dramatic when I say that A Walk to Remember was THEEEEE rom-com of 2002. Its January 25 debut began the tradition of ugly-crying at Mandy Moore's greatness that continues to this day.

8. The Count of Monte Cristo, released on January 25, gave the revenge plot of the novel an upgrade by making the protagonist and antagonist besties. THE TURMOIL.

9. Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, a classic martial arts parody film, came out January 25.

10. Slackers was for everyone daydreaming about ways to beat the system through college and beyond. It came out February 1.

11. Big Fat Liar gave us the perfect pre-teen comedy duo in Amanda Bynes and Frankie Muniz. Adding in Paul Giamatti as the bad guy? *mwahhh* It debuted on February 8.

12. Amélie gave all the warm, fuzzy romance vibes and was surprisingly deeper than expected. The film came back on February 8.

13. Collateral Damage had a lot of buzz for being a movie whose action had to be altered as a result of the 9/11 attacks. Originally slated for release on October 5, 2001, it came out the following February 8.

15. Power Rangers Wild Force showed us they still had more stories to tell. It debuted on February 9.

16. John Q is an ugly-crier that feels all too relevant 20 years later. The film, released on February 15, 2002, followed a desperate father trying to get his son a life-saving procedure with serious obstacles in his way.

17. Besties everywhere were LIVING for the trio that was Britney Spears, Zoe Saldaña, and Taryn Manning in Crossroads, which was released on February 15.

18. 40 Days and 40 Nights was another big Josh Hartnett release. After giving up sex for Lent, Matt has to figure out what to do when he meets his dream girl. The film came out on March 1.

19. All About the Benjamins is one of the most underrated Ice Cube films of the time. The March 8 release saw him as a bounty hunter racing the clock and his mark, a con man played by Mike Epps.

20. The Osbournes birthed reality TV on March 5, 2002, and since then, no one's life has ever been the same.

21. Resident Evil was one of the early contenders in the "video game turned action movies" trend — and a popular one. Its March 15 release was accompanied by a remake of the 1996 original game.

22. Ice Age came out on March 15 and arguably jumpstarted everyone's love for unusual animals.

23. Cult classic Blade II came out on March 21 and gave us vampire sci-fi horror, and while it may have seemed out there at the time, the appreciation for it has really only grown since.

24. ChalkZone's premiere was a major moment for Nickelodeon. When it debuted on March 22, it became the highest-rated premiere for the channel in its history.

25. George Lopez introduced a new family sitcom to the block on March 27, and it was a serious hit.

26. We were introduced to the chaos that is group dates and rose ceremonies when The Bachelor debuted on March 25, 2002.

27. Panic Room introduced us to baby Kristen Stewart on March 29, 2002, and it's still pretty stellar as far as thrillers go.

28. National Lampoon's Van Wilder introduced us to a whole new side of Ryan Reynolds on March 29, 2002, and we have yet to recover.

29. Degrassi: The Next Generation gave us everything we needed to survive tweendom and then some. The world was re-introduced to the Canadian teen drama on April 1.

30. Ice Cube struck comedy gold with the perfect ensemble cast in Barbershop, which came out on April 1. It was easily one of the most quotable movies to come out that year.

31. The Sweetest Thing gave us an amazing(ly hot) trio in Christina Applegate, Cameron Diaz, and Selma Blair. It may not have been a hit with its April 12 debut, but it's still appreciated by many today. You had to be there.

32. The Scorpion King served as a prequel and spinoff to The Mummy. It was also The Rock's first lead film role, hitting theaters on April 18, 2002.

34. American Psycho II: All American Girl wasn't exactly a much-awaited sequel, but it put Mila Kunis at the head of a thriller. It came out on April 22 but wasn't too popular, even with her at the helm.
