"He may be gorgeous, but his character was trash."

1. Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Ferris taking Cameron's dad's Ferrari while Cameron says no repeatedly and offers to rent a Cadillac or limo instead

Paramount

"He's a total douche who only cares about himself. And he's SUCH a bad friend! When Ferris wants to use Cameron's dad's Ferrari for his schemes, Cameron repeatedly says no. Ferris just jumps in the car, starts it, and drives out of the garage! Cameron even offers to rent a Cadillac or a limo, but Ferris ignores him. Then, when they aren't able to change the speedometer, Cameron is so worried about his father's reaction that he freaks out, kicks the shit out of the car, and sends it crashing out the window. Cameron's emotional turmoil, whatever happens to his relationship with his dad, the financial costs — all of that is on Ferris."

2. Severus Snape from Harry Potter.

Snape calling Hermione an insufferable know-it-all

Warner Bros.

"His redemption arc was just lazy. He was a bully to children, and he was obsessed with Lily, not in love with her. Neville’s parents were tortured to insanity, yet Neville's worst fear was Snape, his teacher. There are no redeemable qualities in Snape."

nellieeng_

"Yeah, fuck Snape. Imagine if, in real life, a middle-aged man still hadn't gotten over a rejection from when he was 15, so he decided to harass a group of children on the daily. It wasn't just slight nags, either: He straight-up told a 15-year-old girl that her buckteeth were horrible and bullied a shy student into fearing him. He'd be fired and possibly barred from ever teaching again."

3. Peter Parker/Spider-Man from the MCU.

Peter awkwardly thanking Tony Stark for his suit, and Tony saying, "Yeah, we don't really need to start a conversation"

Disney / Marvel

"I understand that everyone adores Tom Holland, but I find his 'adorkable' interpretation of the character way too exaggerated, distracting, and one-dimensional. The current hero makes careless mistakes and doesn't seem to learn from them."

4. Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

Ariel saying if she becomes a human, she won't see her family again, Ursula saying that she'll have her man instead, and Ariel signing the contract

Disney

"She straight-up sold her soul and abandoned everyone who cared about her for some guy she had never even exchanged words with. For all she knew, Prince Eric could've been an absolute jerk. She's a terrible example for girls."

romcommusicalgurl

"The symbolism of giving up your voice for a man is disgusting."

sbc67

"She’s the worst Disney princess, hands down."

5. Bridget Jones from Bridget Jones's Diary.

Bridget saying unless she changed, her major relationship would be with a bottle of wine and she'd die fat and alone

Universal

"Bridget is so annoying. She's reckless, petty, and selfish."

novemberrose14

"Maybe it's because I'm a die-hard Jane Austen fan, but I was annoyed with how pathetic and disorganized she was. That whole 'confused small child' and 'Woe is me, I'm such a mess' act gets very old about 10 minutes into the movie. Lizzie Bennet would never."

6. Nick Young from Crazy Rich Asians.

Nick telling Rachel his family has business with the airline. Rachel asking if his family is rich, and Nick saying that they are comfortable

Warner Bros.

"He may be gorgeous, but his character was trash. He hid the fact that his family was mega-rich and only told Rachel when she asked while they were on the plane to visit his family. Plus, he glossed over their judgment, especially his mom's. Also, the fish thing with his ex? Like, he wasn't gonna address that further? That was vile. He was a bad boyfriend. He only redeemed himself (sort of) at the end when he chose Rachel over his family, even though that's what she didn't want. Had he been honest with her from the start, Rachel could have had enough time to prepare for the judging eyes and harsh comments from Eleanor."

7. Frodo Baggins from The Lord of the Rings.

Smeagol sprinkling crumbs on Sam to frame him for eating the bread, Frodo believing Smeagol and telling Sam to go home

New Line Cinema

"I know Frodo had a lot going on with the ring around his neck all the time, but he believed Sméagol over sweet, loyal Sam, who left his safe home to travel to Mordor with him…trash."

Stakravenclaw46

8. Woody from Toy Story.

Woody telling Buzz to stay away from Andy and to drop "the spaceman thing"

Disney

"Hear me out. He verbally eviscerates Buzz in the first movie, and he continues throughout the movies to just verbally abuse other toys when he feels like they aren’t in 100% agreement with him. Then, whenever he realizes that he has lost complete control, he just gives up and becomes dead weight. All the toys do all the work and build him up, and he swoops in at the last second to save everyone and take all the credit."

Gemma Hamilton

"Yes! Woody is a hardheaded bully, honestly."

9. Steve Rogers/Captain America from the MCU.

Steve saying, "The price of freedom is high, it always has been; and it's a price I'm willing to pay"

Disney / Marvel

"I found him quite selfish, judgmental, and arrogant. He acted like he was the only one who had faced any hardships, and he never really changed or grew as a character."

10. Bender from The Breakfast Club.

Bender looking up Claire's skirt under her desk, then saying "It was an accident," and Claire saying, "You're an asshole"

Universal

"Everyone said I would love him when I watched the movie, but I can't stand him. He's stuck up and rude."

flipper8765

"I second this. He’s also super inappropriate with Claire."

sofiyana

11. Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.

Hermione saying, "It's leviOsa, not levioSA."

Warner Bros.

"A character I appreciated but couldn’t stand IRL is Hermione Granger. The movies took away some of her 'bad' qualities, glorified her a bit, and made Ron seem terrible. But in the books, she was more insufferable (and I say this lovingly!). Honestly, she did some messed-up stuff. Like mutilating Marietta Edgecombe’s face in Order of the Phoenix? Her mom was a Ministry employee, probably not too high up, and for all we know, she needed that job. In comparison, the students at Hogwarts didn't know all of the details of Harry’s exploits, and so he seemed a little unstable. Of course Marietta narc'd; she was a kid, and she was probably worried about her mom, too."

bellz4281

12. Gabriella from High School Musical.

Troy saying "You can't quit" and Gabriella saying "Us working together sounds good, but plans change; people change"

Disney

"She always leaves Troy, never trusts him, and doesn't try to work anything out. It's just so noncommittal."

ruchav

"Gabriella is super annoying and never stops whining."

LunaWolf1216

13. Han Solo from Star Wars.

Han Solo saying to Leia, "Why are you following me? Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?"

Lucasfilm / Disney

"I’ve always heard people say Han Solo is the best, but I realized that wasn't true when I rewatched the original trilogy. He's arrogant, bitter, and rude to Leia."

cypresslicorice

14. Noah Calhoun from The Notebook.

Noah saying, "It wasn't over; it still isn't over"

New Line Cinema

"I'm not even talking about what a creep he was when he first met Allie, although that's certainly a problem. Can we just admit that pining for a teenage summer fling for years after the fact is a pretty pathetic thing to do? Get on with your life, Noah. She wasn't that special."

Jaycie

15. Olaf from Frozen.

Anna asking questions and Olaf repeatedly saying, "Yeah, why?"

Disney

"Olaf is pretty popular, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why. He's easily the most annoying character Disney has ever created. Plus, he doesn't add anything interesting to the plot. When you think of other sidekicks like Mushu and Tantor, they have their own storylines and powerful moments. I think Olaf was simply added for the sake of humor, but he isn't even funny!"

sweetpeaprincess

16. Peter Quill/Star-Lord from the MCU.

Iron man saying Peter is from Earth, and Peter saying, "I'm not from Earth. I'm from Missouri"

Disney / Marvel

"Don’t even get me started on how irritating and irresponsible Peter Quill is."

hannahbb99

17. And finally, Buttercup from The Princess Bride.

Buttercup telling Westley to polish her saddle, and Westley responding, "As you wish"

20th Century Fox

"The movie starts off with Buttercup bossing Westley around. Then, after he returns as the Dread Pirate Roberts, he saves her from her kidnappers. Then he saves her from Prince Humperdinck. Where are her redeeming qualities?! She just waits for everyone else to do things for her or come to her rescue. Girl, is there anything you can do for your damn self?"
