TV sitcoms are usually a great way to unwind and laugh after a long day. Goofy parents, adorable kids, and classic laugh tracks — what's not to love?

Occasionally though, a sitcom will get unexpectedly dark. Like, REALLY dark.

For example, on Diff'rent Strokes, when a bike store owner — a grown man — tried to take advantage of literal children Arnold and Dudley by inviting them to his apartment and giving them wine.

A man offering wine to two young boys and saying, "How about some wine?"

Or on Boy Meets World, when Cory's mom gave birth prematurely and it was unknown if the baby would survive.

Cory's dad saying, "I only got to hold him for a second — he's just so small, so helpless... They don't ... they don't know if..."

And, to use a more current example, that time when Rosa had to respond to an active shooting situation on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Rosa saying over radio, "Diaz, 3118, show me going."

NBC
