With so many beloved characters returning, there are so many awesome moments that make this film an excellent addition to the franchise. And so, let's go back down the rabbit hole and take a look at the 12 best moments from The Matrix Resurrections.

🚨 WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!  🚨

12. Taking the Blue Pills

During this montage, Neo and his gaming company begin working on a new trilogy of Matrix games for Warner Bros. (yes, I'm being serious), and we see his co-workers spouting ideas about what the series is and what it should be. However, Neo struggles to maintain his sanity as stops taking his blue pills. It's an uber-meta sequence that presents all the things people love about the franchise in just a couple of minutes, all to the sound of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit."

11. Neo Reunites With Trinity

After Neo and Trinity were revived and placed back in the Matrix, both of them began living out their lives not knowing who they truly are. Neo eventually meets Trinity (going by Tiffany) in a coffee shop and learns she is married and has two kids. Though we've all seen this moment in the trailers, it is still pleasing to see Neo reunite with his one true love.

10. Trinity Makes Her Choice

Warner Bros. / Via HBO Max

The film made a huge emphasis on choice and ultimately hinged on whether or not Trinity wanted to remain in the Matrix. Meeting Neo at the coffee shop where they reunited, she sees a room filled with the Analyst's forces. Though she initially chooses to go back with her family, in the end, she chooses otherwise and reclaims her true identity as Trinity.

9. Neo Takes the Red Pill (Again)

In this scene, Neo is taken to Morpheus's secret lair on a moving train in Tokyo. There, Morpheus projects recordings of Neo's first meeting with him in the original film, explaining how Neo, like everyone else, finds comfort in nostalgia. It's another one of the film's meta moments that leads to Neo repeating history by taking the red pill and becoming the One once again.

8. Train Swarm

Warner Bros. / Via HBO Max

Just as Neo takes the red pill, a squad of SWAT soldiers barges into Morpheus's hideout, and all hell breaks loose. If that wasn't enough, the heroes end up back on a moving train, where its passengers are brainwashed and enter "swarm" mode as they try to capture Neo and his friends. It's an intense and frenetic scene that shows just how much the franchise has evolved since we last left it.

7. The Analyst Reveals Himself

Warner Bros. / Via HBO Max

In a not-so-surprising twist, Neo learns that Neil Patrick Harris's therapist character is the Analyst, the creator of the new Matrix and the film's true antagonist. The evil machine flaunts his power by slowing time down in a reversal of Neo's iconic "bullet time" power. He also reveals that he imprisoned Neo and Trinity to power the Matrix with the energy generated from their suffering over not being completely together. This is a clever twist of how film audiences like to see movie characters suffer for their amusement, as this pain keeps the Matrix going, leaving its inhabitants happy and peaceful. Diabolical.

6. Fight in the Simulatte

Warner Bros. / Via youtube.com

When Trinity chooses to leave the Matrix, the Analyst has his men try to destroy her and Neo. An all-out war goes down in a small café, and it's a sight to behold. From Bugs merging with Trinity to the latter and Neo blowing everyone up with a blast of energy, it's a lot to process in just one little scene. But Smith surprises everyone, including the audience, by helping Neo and his friends when he joins the fight.

5. The Opening

The film opens with a recreation of the original film's first scene inside a node in the Matrix. But in a surprising twist, we see Morpheus serving as one of the Agents hunting her down. We eventually see this new Morpheus battle series newcomer, Bugs, who helps free him from the Matrix as they flee from the Agents after learning his true identity. It's an interesting spin on the first film, fitting into this sequel's theme of nostalgia and how history repeats itself.

4. Office Shootout

At this point in the film, Neo finally meets the new Morpheus inside a bathroom at his company headquarters. After offering him the infamous red pill, Neo refuses to believe this is all real. Things immediately turn sideways when a SWAT team breaks in and starts shooting at Morpheus. But when the new Smith picks up a gun and calls out Thomas's name, he sends chills through the audience as he reclaims his role as Neo's nemesis. And to think, this guy was the king from Hamilton.

3. Swarm Chase

Warner Bros. / Via youtube.com

After Neo breaks Trinity free from the Matrix, the Analyst brainwashes the entire city to hunt them down. The duo then flees on Trinity's motorcycle and enters a wild chase scene against the Analyst's forces. There are helicopters, exploding cars, and even some people dropping down from buildings as suicide bombs. It's an insane and over-the-top sequence that can only be done in the Matrix.

2. Trinity Flies

Warner Bros. / Via youtube.com

After fleeing from the Analyst's forces, Neo and Trinity end up trapped on the top of a skyscraper with a couple of helicopters. In a literal leap of faith, the two of them try to escape by flying off the building. Though Neo fails to soar through the air, Trinity saves his life by learning to float herself, emphasizing just how much Neo truly needs her to survive.

1. Anderson and Smith

Warner Bros. / Via youtube.com

In a rematch for the ages, Neo battles the reborn Agent Smith while the former's friends battle a group of exile programs. It's a brutally spectacular fight that shows Neo slowly regaining his strength as the One as Smith overpowers him. It also highlights the duality between the two characters, as they have been literally chained by the Matrix and seem to be destined to fight each other time and time again. In the end, it's a treat to see these two fight it out in true Matrix fashion.
