The Girl Before is a sinewy and sinister miniseries that was released recently on HBO Max. The story follows two women in two separate timelines who rent a minimalist home — that comes with weird restrictions — in London designed by a celebrated and creepy architect.

The series is yet another addition to the long list of "girl" thriller movies and TV series that starts with Gone Girl. This series is based on a book of the same name by the British writer J. P. Delaney (pseudonym used by the author Tony Strong).

1. This series is riveting. I'm pretty sure you will finish it in one sitting.
#TheGirlBefore is so good. I’m pleasantly surprised. Love a British drama and it reminds me of Behind Her Eyes.
3. This makes me ponder:
Premise of #TheGirlBefore: a psychological thriller about a dark skinned Black man OBSESSED with light skinned mixed-race Black women who literally all look the same. Is it a critique on colourism in the community? 🙃 I'm only on Episode 2.

6. The twists were totally unexpected.
I tell you what… I’m on the last episode of #TheGirlBefore and I did NOT see it going this way at aaallllll. this was a legit slow burn psychological thriller from beginning to end.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jessica Plummer are giving off doppelgänger vibes in #TheGirlBefore… Totally engrossing story; great performances.

The house in the #TheGirlBefore reminds me of the house in Parasite with its sterile, minimalist design! Did anyone else smirk whilst Ben Hardy was trying to loosen up and dance?
15. Ben Hardy hasn't gone unnoticed.
#BenHardy gets his time to shine in episode 4 of #TheGirlBefore with an incredible and intense performance. From the moment I heard he was cast I knew he’d be a fantastic Simon and was so excited to see what he’d bring to the role.

I'm watching #TheGirlBefore on @hbomax. I came for David, but I'm staying for the house. It's absolutely beautiful. Something tells me it won't stay that way for long.
