"I actually already knew Jared, the director and writer, before — we had met at parties and stuff like that. So Jared was like, ‘Yeah, this is right for you’ — and I was the one who was like, ‘Should I audition? Are you sure?’

I'm just now starting to accept, mentally in my head, that I want to be an actor. Before this, I've always felt like a musician who every now and then [has] some random acting thing that comes up and I just do it for fun. But Jared had a lot of faith in me that I really, really appreciate. He definitely pushed me, and I'm so happy that he did. 

I was the nervous one who was like, 'I want to put something on tape, I want to audition. I want to prove to you, and also to myself, that I can do this. I opened Photobooth on my laptop — to be honest, I was already in Atlanta, about to start filming, so it was a bit late if I was going to be shit. But I did a scene and sent it to him, and I was like, 'Okay, like this is kind of where I see things going.' And he was really happy with it, so it was it all worked out!"
